Summer in the city is a special time for everyone, but for North Brooklyn residents, it also means a beloved tradition is returning. At Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, under the leadership of Msgr. Jamie Gigantiello, preparations for the annual Giglio Feast have been underway since the closing ceremony last summer.
This treasured celebration marks its 138th year on Wednesday, July 9, and the celebration continues nightly until Sunday, July 20, which is affectionately known as “Old Timers Day.” More than just a place to enjoy delicious Italian food and desserts, the Giglio Feast is a powerful expression of Italian heritage, religious devotion and family values. It’s a 12-day event that brings together generations of people.
