The US tour by violinist Matteo Fedeli, which will see him playing a precious Stradivarius dating from 1726 in over 10 east-coast cities, has opened at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York. The initiative is part of the "Year of Italian Culture" programme.
The Italian Cultural Institute also hosted a film screening and conference on the Italian Resistance, to mark the celebrations for 25 April, the anniversary of the liberation. Speakers included Jacqueline Reich, who teaches at Stony Brook University; Elizabeth Leake, head of the Italian Department at Columbia University; Riccardo Viale, director of the Cultural Institute; and Natalia Quintavalle, the Italian Consul General.
