Paul Caragiulo sometimes thinks it is a little improbable that he ever wound up in public office.
There is so much about politics that he doesn't like. He has been seen lingering in the Sarasota City Commission chambers, after everyone else has left a meeting, fuming at how a public policy debate became derailed by personal arguments.
He could have taken another path: Caragiulo once studied opera in Italy and spent much of his life working in his family's successful restaurant business. The stutter that he defeated in his youth might have banished all thoughts of public speaking, much less the campaign trail.
