The Lasagna House on FM 1960 near I-45 north experienced a tragedy in July when the establishment had to shut down due to a fire that started next door at Barney's Billiard Saloon. The Lasagna House is set to reopen at its original location sometime next year and will continue to serve Southern Italian favorites. Fret not because fans of the establishment can still experience Italian food. Now, the Italian cuisine is back serving people in a unique way and place.
Rustica Italian is a food truck at Bernie's Backyard owned and operated by Matt Vernon and is providing people with their pasta and pizza cravings. Bernie's Backyard is a new concept that includes food trucks, beer, food, and fun that has officially started serving Houstonians. "Everything is handmade and hand crafted on the truck, and you don't see too many Italian food trucks," said Vernon. "[We] decided to create the food that is in Italy with authentic Italian street food."
