Although U.S. Senate candidate Charles Marsala grew up in New Orleans, he has strong ties to northeast Louisiana. Marsala's family arrived in New Orleans from Sicily more than 100 years ago and migrated to Monroe, La., to work on railroads and farms.
Many locals and visitors have eaten at his grandfather Geno's restaurant on 8th street in Monroe or seen the Marsala Beverage trucks, owned by the Charles V. Marsala, Jr. family, throughout northeast Louisiana.
