As an international port, New Orleans attracted an abundance of Italian immigrants near the end of the 19th century. These days -- especially on St. Joseph's Day (March 19) -- their descendants throughout Louisiana continue to uphold the traditions of the old country.
It is an experience that Maria and Frank Pyburn of Covington share as owners of DiCristina's Italian and Seafood Restaurant. They opened the restaurant with Josie and Phillip DiCristina in 2005.
