President Obama has nominated the husband of his former health care communications director for a post as U.S. ambassador to Italy and San Marino, according to a new release from The White House.
John R. Phillips, a Washington lawyer who currently serves as Chair of the President's Commission on White House Fellowships, is married to Linda Douglass, who served as Director of Communications for the White House Office of Health Reform from 2009 to 2010. She then went on to serve as Vice President of Communications at The Atlantic Media Company before leaving to "experiment with the concept of more free time."
