The mission of the Lazio Region delegation to New York has begun, led by President Francesco Rocca. Alongside some of the region’s most innovative companies in the pharmaceutical, sustainable technology, and airport management sectors, the region will participate in a three-day series of meetings, presentations, and networking events to foster strategic partnerships and lay the groundwork for new development opportunities.
The New York stop is part of the program for numerous initiatives, as Lazio is the "Region of Honor 2025" of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF). President Francesco Rocca will be joined by the Vice President and Regional Minister for Economic Development of Lazio, Roberta Angelilli, and the President of the Rome Chamber of Commerce, Lorenzo Tagliavanti, who is a partner of the Region in this initiative.
Among the scheduled events are several key institutional meetings, including appointments with the Economic Development Corporation (the official economic development agency of New York City), the Empire State Development from the Governor’s office for promoting city partnerships and investments, and the Consulate General of Italy in New York, which will host an event on Open Innovation in strategic sectors such as life sciences, mobility, urban technologies, and aerospace on April 9. This event will be opened by the Consul General, Fabrizio Di Michele.
One of the main objectives of the regional delegation will be to highlight the associations, companies, and startups from Lazio that are part of the mission: Farmindustria, Confapi, Confimprese, Aeroporti di Roma, Maire, Angelini Ventures, Alfasigma, Almaviva, to name just a few. They will bring their know-how to New York, aiming to establish relationships and partnerships with key players in the U.S. business and financial ecosystem, creating favorable conditions under the institutional umbrella to further boost bilateral relations, also benefiting the backbone of small and medium-sized enterprises that form the economic fabric of the region.
This will be a high-profile platform for 20 innovative startups and SMEs in the Aerospace, Energy, and Artificial Intelligence sectors, which were selected through a Lazio Innova competition to participate in the mission.
On April 8 there were meetings for the startups at Yale University and the Connecticut Innovation Center, as well as at the Cornell Tech campus in the Artificial Intelligence research labs. The Institutional delegation, along with company representatives, was engaged at the Brooklyn Navy Yard for a discussion on public-private partnerships, followed by a visit to the New Lab Technology Hub, focusing on innovation in robotics, mobility, and clean technologies.
On Wednesday, April 9, the entire delegation will be engaged at Civic Hall, the Center for Civic Technology and Public-Private Innovation in NYC, for a discussion with investors from the New York ecosystem.
The mission will continue on Thursday, April 10, at NASDAQ, where the President of the Lazio Region, Francesco Rocca, will open the proceedings of a conference organized by NIAF, with representatives from Lazio companies and the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy. This session will focus on attracting investments to Lazio and industrial partnerships, with the participation of major investment funds and large American corporations.
The mission will conclude with the NIAF Spring Gala at the Cipriani Hotel, where guests from Lazio will have the opportunity to engage with over 700 invitees from the world of economics, culture, and academia in New York City.
