10. Thou shalt not add oil to pasta water. This throws off the balance of cooking the pasta. A delicious pasta water should be as salty as the Mediterranean, not oily. Oil is only to be added to pasta after it's been cooked and drained, and, even then, it acts more as a dressing–think pasta salad–rather than non-sticking agent.

9. Thou shalt never ever mix cheese and seafood. If you meander around France, Chile, or, really anywhere long enough you're bound to find dishes mixing cheese and seafood. That is everywhere except Italy where the practice is as sacrilegious as mixing water and oil. Many believe cheese overpowers the delicate taste of fish.
