Two local Italian restaurants are raising money for victims of last week's deadly earthquake in central Italy by donating proceeds from a pasta dish to overseas relief efforts. Lidia's Pittsburgh at 1400 Smallman St. in the Strip District began offering the spaghetti-like dish Bucatini all' Amatriciana on its lunch and dinner menus last week. The item costs $16, and proceeds will be donated to the Italian Red Cross.

"So far, the response has been good," said Eric Brown, assistant general manager of Lidia's, which is owned by chef and TV personality Lidia Bastianich. Several patrons have ordered a different meal but still made a donation. The Girasole restaurant at 733 Copeland St. in Shadyside will offer Pasta all' Amatriciana on its dinner menu beginning Thursday. It will donate proceeds from the dish to the National Italian American Foundation relief fund.
