The Gloucester County Italian Heritage Commission (GCIHC) has chosen Caterina Dattola Dawson as the 2016 Italian-American Citizen of the Year. GCIHC selected Dawson in recognition of her dedication to keeping the Italian heritage alive, for instilling a love for the culture in so many others, and for inspiring and leading the younger generation to carry on the Italian tradition.
Dawson is a Mickleton resident who teaches Italian and Spanish at Glassboro High School. She is a founding member and past president of the G.C. Italian Heritage Commission and now serves as vice president.
