A new algorithm can predict whether respondents to a 30-second questionnaire are at risk of fractures from osteoporosis, medical authorities said Friday.

The questionnaire will also generate answers as to what medication to take and whether people should consult a specialist. The key is an algorithm created by the Italian Pharmaceuticals Agency (AIFA), the national drugs regulator, along with the Italian Rheumatology Society and the Italian Society of Osteoporosis, Mineral Metabolism and Skeletal Diseases.
