Pizza has become, without a doubt, a deeply embedded part of American society with its many styles and regional adaptations. The origins of pizza, as we know, started with the arrival of Italian immigrants in the late 1800s. Since then, American pizza developed its own style rooted in the classic Italian tradition.
From the East Coast to the West Coast, some pizza styles have even become iconic – such as the New York pizza with its characteristically thin crust, the Chicago deep-dish pizza, pizza in the Detroit style, the tomato pie, the St. Louis-style pizza and even the variety from New Haven.
