The Town of Babylon has posthumously honored Barbara Mangano, the first licensed female funeral director in Suffolk County, by renaming a portion of Deer Park Avenue near the funeral home she helped establish. The roadway will now be known as Barbara Mangano Memorial Way.
A dedication ceremony was held June 12 to celebrate Mangano’s contributions to the funeral service industry and the Babylon Town community. Remembered as a trailblazer, Mangano was credited with opening doors for generations of women in the profession and was active in numerous charitable and civic organizations.
