"Puroliva" is indeed tempting. In Los Angeles, it costs 70% less than the original extra-virgin. While in Houston, the imitation of prosciutto from Parma is even discounted by 80%. Oil, cold cuts, pasta. And then, dairy products, sauces, baked goods. There is virtually no food group immune from the phenomenon of Italian sounding, the evocation of "Italian-ness" for products that have nothing to do with Italy.
These actions have been taken by thousands of companies, with a devastating impact on the Made-in-Italy food industry. The industry must renounce, on a global scale, €54 billion, €60 billion considering even counterfeiting in a strict sense.
