A territory that has always been rich in history. The first evidence of the existence of this beautiful village date back to the prehistoric era. As in the rest of northern Italy, Bobbio, has suffered during the centuries of Roman, Celtic and Lombard influences.
The village of Bobbio owes its fame to San Colombano who, in 614, decided to build a monastery in Bobbio. The Irish saint, remembered for having founded numerous abbeys and churches throughout Europe, was fascinated by the area where the village stood and settled here until his death.
