I have an intense love affair with pizza. It’s my favorite food. The hot, crisp and buttery crust combined with the acidic and juicy tomato sauce tinged with whispers of sweet undertones and a blanket of melted, caramelized cheese all send me to the moon. When pizza commercials come on television, I get excited. When the pizza cutter crashes through the crust and the crumbs go flying, my heart flutters a little.
As the spatula lifts the slice and the melted cheese strings rise up, I may as well be looking at ribbons of gossamer lace floating through the air. As the pepperoni crisps, curls up and sunbathes on the surface of the pizza, it gives me pause and I need a moment of silence to be reverent in its presence.
