Turin's Molinette hospital said Friday that it performed the transplant of both lungs, the liver and the pancreas of a 47-year-old cystic fibrosis patient.
Turin's City of Health and Science complex, which the Molinette hospital is part of, said it was the first four-organ transplant performed in Europe. The operation lasted 15 hours. The patient, who had been transferred from Bari on a State flight, is in intensive care.
