Never like today the idea of having a quick lunch while walking down the main street of our town or village has been so alluring. Whatever we picture chomping on, it tastes like freedom, doesn’t it? Regardless to your country of origin, street food is a staple of traditional cuisine, a quick key to understand the secrets of a place’s tastes, the Cliff’s Notes of national food icons.

As you would expect from Italy, street food has a special status all of its own, because here street food is a religion — and a pretty complex and vast one at that.  If you think we do only slices of pizza and gelato to-go, well, be ready for some pleasant and tasty surprises.
