Back in 2014, The Facing Hunger Foodbank got a little help from their Italian-American friends with a fundraiser that included a taste of Italy - an intimate cooking class by Rocco Muriale and then a wine tasting and dinner at Ralph Hagy's La Famiglia. Last year, and with a whole lot of help from their friends, the Food Bank supersized that order and took the Italian Fest to the streets with a Fourth Avenue fest in front of the Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center that drew more than 3,000 people to the closed down street and that cleared out the food booths well before the fest ended.
This year, the Foodbank is expanding the second year "Italiano: Italian Festival," which is set to run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20 on Fourth Avenue between 10th and 8th Streets. The festival proceeds will benefit the Back Pack Program of Facing Hunger, which currently provides for 3,500 children weekly.
