Family is theme of 'Over the River and Through the Woods'

"Tengo famiglia: I have a family" is the theme of Flat Rock Playhouse's newest production, "Over the River and Through the Woods," which opens Thursday and runs through June 21. The play, by Joe DiPietro, is a heartwarming comedy about the intergenerational conflicts in one Italian-American family.

"There's something about this piece," says director Scott Treadway. "It's just the perfect Flat Rock piece. It's so sweet and so funny."The central conflict is between single grandson Nick, who wants to move away from his home in New Jersey, and two sets of grandparents, who yearn to keep the younger generation continuing the older generation's traditions of family, faith and food — lots of food.
