A series of new commissioned sculptures going up around downtown Barre feature the work of local artisans, including a unique father and son combo. Barre, a city with deep roots in the granite industry, has some new additions. Charles Dicken's Mr. Pickwick, absorbed in his books, now stands out in front of the Aldrich library.
"You can see his eyeballs through the glasses," said Giuliano Cecchinelli Sr. Giuliano Sr. says the inspiration for the statue came from a school book report he did shortly after arriving in the United States in 1961 from Carrara, Italy.
