George Di Ciero, a man whose dedication, passion and love for Broomfield as its city and county manager for 43 years, has passed away. Di Ciero, 77, died Tuesday night after a year-long battle with cancer. He was diagnosed lat spring with colon cancer and underwent surgery and chemotherapy. It went well for six months, but they learned it had spread into his bones. Pamela, his wife of 51 years, said it wasn’t his nature to give up.

“He fought the good fight,” said Mark Di Ciero, George DiCiero’s son. “He really did.” As difficult as the last year was, George Di Ciero spent his final months surrounded by his family. “If any good can come from something as ugly as cancer, it was that we were all together,” Mark Di Ciero said. “He was with people who loved him more than anything.”
