The Italian American Woman's Association celebrates 30 years and honors a well-known Italian American in Erie. Former Erie Mayor Joyce Savocchio was on the receiving end of the Woman of the Year award.
The association voted unanimously for Savocchio to receive the award.
Her grandparents came to the states to live the American dream, which is why she says she built her career around education and politics.
The Association will honor Savocchio with a dinner in her honor on Tuesday, September 16th which the public is invited too.
