A very interesting meeting was held on Monday 2nd January, 2015 between some friends of US-Italy Global Forum and the Foundation Jewish Contemporary Documentation Center (CDEC), the world prestigious center of Jewish contemporary studies based in Milan, and participants in the US-Italy forum.
The Center is devoted to the memory of the Italian Shoah and also researches contemporary antisemitism in Italy. Representatives from the New York-based Primo Levi Center also attended the meeting. Many displaced Jews, after the Liberation, went to Italy, where they were provided sanctuary prior to departing for other destinations, primarily Israel or the United States. Something similar happened again in the 70's with the Jews from the former Soviet Union and Libya.
