Gary Valenti, owner of Gary Valenti Import/Export and a pioneer in the housewares industry, died on Nov. 3, 2016. He attended Brooklyn College and City College of New York where he majored in Business Administration and Foreign Trade. After working for Sperry Gyroscope and Bendix Aviation, he was stationed in Italy with the U.S. Army.

In 1946, Valenti was one of the first to reintroduce Italian houseware lines to the U.S. and represented the leading firms in Italy. He introduced the Bialetti Moka Express to the U.S. market.
