It’s called Balcone d’Italia (Balcony of Italy) and it’s considered one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Italy. This spectacular lookout is located on top of Monte Sighignola in the Lugano Prealps, right on the border between Switzerland and Italy. Despite its relatively modest height - 1320 meters - it offers an incomparable view. 

The natural panoramic terrace located at the top, hence the name ‘Balcony of Italy,’ stands on Italian territory and offers panoramic views over Lake Lugano, the city of Lugano, and the surrounding alpine landscape.  On clear days, you can see as far as some legendary 4,000-meter peaks like Monte Rosa and the Matterhorn. The Italian National Trust has rated it as one of the most beautiful places in Italy.
