On the rooftop of an office building near the Verizon Center in downtown D.C., a group of politicians and lobbyists gathers for the Third Annual Congressional Bocce Tournament. The scene is what you might expect — a stately, convivial affair with more pomp than competition, forced inside due to stormy weather for the third consecutive year.
"It's my great disappointment not to be able to show that I'm the greatest bocce player in the U.S.," chuckles Rep. Bill Pascrell, D-N.Y., who is also the co-chair of the Italian-American Congressional Delegation that organized the event.
