Each year, the IAA supports the KSO by sponsoring the “Lou Perry Bocce Tournament,” which is named in honor of longtime IAA board member Lou “Mr. Bocce” Perry. The bocce tournament is one of the more popular events at the KSO.
As part of our support, Bob Scorcolini, IAA Board Member and the IAA’s representative to the Kentucky Special Olympics (KSO) Bocce Competition is seeking IAA members, along with their family members and friends, who are willing to serve as volunteer bocce referees for the tournament being held as part of the Special Olympics games on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Eastern Kentucky University. Please note volunteers do not need to be experienced bocce players.
To help volunteers become familiar with the basic rules of bocce rules for KSO, which are a little different than standard rules, Bob will be scheduling a brief training session one evening prior to the event. In addition, to help cover the cost of travel, the IAA will be providing up to $100.00 per car traveling to Eastern Kentucky University.
The Italian American Association (IAA) has been a sponsor for this event for the past 4-5 years, and has supplied bocce referees for approximately 8-9 years. Due to the growth in the popularity of this event, we are looking for 10 volunteers to be bocce referees.
If you are interested in serving as a volunteer, please see the details of the event presented.
