
Vita M. Messina, 97, remembered the days when she danced and danced all night at weddings at the Italian-American Civic Association as a young woman. On Sunday, she was one of 26 people over the age of 85 who were honored during the club’s first senior recognition at the Bellew Avenue club.
At her age, the longtime member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Auxiliary no longer can get to the Mass during the winter, but she made it a point to be at Sunday’s event to see old friends and be with family members.
