The team behind San Francisco’s successful Flour + Water, Trick Dog and Salumeria restaurants is launching a new Italian concept this Friday in their former Foxsister space in the Mission district. Called Great Gold, it’s being billed as a “Modern American Italian Kitchen,” with partner/co-owner David Steele envisioning this as a marriage of California ingredients and sensibilities and classic Italian-American comfort food recipes.
“Great Gold will be our take on a classic Italian American ‘red sauce’ joint but a huge difference will be our focus on local, seasonal ingredients and sourcing these ingredients as sustainably as possible,” he said in a statement. They will also embrace carbon-neutral farming efforts in partnership with the nonprofit Zero Food Print organization.
