80 Chautauqua County jobs will be saved after an Italian company agreed to purchase the Empire Specialty Cheese plant in Ashville. The plant, which makes mozzarella and ricotta cheese, was previously "in a difficult financial situation" due to constraints and needed improvements.

Nuova Castelli Group will invest several million dollars into the manufacturing facility, which will include the additions of new machinery and equipment. "We want to make sure the dairy industry continues to thrive in Western New York," Empire State Development President Howard Zemsky said.
