Italian exports rose by 11.4% in August with respect to same month in 2015, Istat said on Monday. The national statistics agency said EU-area exports were up 11.8% while those to non-EU countries rose by 11%.
It said exports were up by 2.6% in August compared to July, although imports rose even more in month-on-month terms - by 4.4%. It added that Italy's trade surplus amounted to 2.5 billion euros in August, up from 1.9 billion in the same month in 2015. Car sales, up 67.6%, were the driving force of the rise in exports.
