The traditional Roman cuisine includes among its ingredients the Roman artichoke. This product is delicious and rich of organoleptic and therapeutic properties, and is celebrated in a three-day feast in Ladispoli, the Feast of the Roman Artichoke.
The event, which celebrates this year the 64th edition, takes place in April and offers the opportunity to promote products and dishes of traditional Roman cuisine and wine but also from other regions of Italy.
A melting pot of aromas, flavors, delights and excellence on the street, anticipated in the previous two weeks by the initiative "Bi-settimana Gastronomica", where the best restaurants in the city offer tourist menus at a fixed price, with traditional dishes dedicated to the artichoke as the stew of artichokes, Jewish artichokes, Roman cooking artichokes, fried artichokes, "Giuditta" artichokes, linguine with artichokes and stuffed artichokes.
The Roman artichoke, also called "violet", can be eaten in a variety of ways: fried, stewed, boiled, grilled or in sauces and pasta dishes. In the food stalls of the festival there is the chance to taste it in several different firings.
The festival has also moments of entertainment for children, cabaret and music on the street to cheer visitors. Ladispoli also offers the opportunity of a pleasant promenade, with the first spring sunshine.
