The Italian government has approved two measures related to the Italian school system: one on emotional and sexual education in schools, and the other against assaults on teachers. There will be no sexual education lessons for Italian adolescents in schools without the explicit and written consent of their parents: this is the official policy.

As stated by the Minister of Education, "Article 30 of the Constitution is clear: it is the right and duty of parents to raise their children. For any activity related to sexuality, prior written consent is required, with clear indications of materials, objectives, and methods. In the absence of consent, the school must offer an alternative educational approach."
