During the warm months of every year, the valley of Castelluccio in the province of Umbria, Italy, explodes in colour with the bloom of thousands of flowers, forming the "Fiorita," or natural flower show. Among them are poppies, violets, daisies, and cornflowers.

Local farmer Antonio Barcaroli told Reuters that the flowers are wild weeds that have colonised the plain, sprouting between the famous local lentil crop that grows there. The flowers help keep the fragile crop upright.
