Astolfo, fearless knight protagonist of extravagant adventures in the Orlando Furioso, used to leave with his golden spear toward memorable feats. By its name ("ast-ulf", whose meaning is more likely "helper spear") comes the name of the new lamp by Lumen Center Italia: a bright spear, thin and technological, mechanically inserted into a drum of solid wood recovered from old beams removed from old buildings, full of bumps and veins.

A slender profile of black anodized aluminum with LED sources, independent from the frame in walnut or oak, which can be housed on the support in different ways, to suggest the different uses of light. In fact, thanks to precision cuts of stem, the light can be inserted from three different angles and orientations.

So you can illuminate the table by placing a line of light parallel to it, or insert it at an angle of 108° to illuminate an environment more broadly, or even a more vertical inclination to take advantage of a wall as a reflector and indirectly enlight the environment.

On the back of the drum there is another line of light inserted flush with the surface of the wood, so as to create a pleasant indirect light. The two different kinds of light are independently controlled by two buttons on the top of the wooden frame, also allowing the adjustment of light intensity.

The ancestral and reassuring structure of the wood contrasts with the extreme technology of the LED source and the minimal profile, in a functional and sensory combination which originates from the past and projects towards the future.
