The New York ages
The story of a careful and elegant love, the scent of flowers and the courage to dare. The inevitable passion for materials, prints and colors, a creativity heritage coming from a family that has been always connected with the world of fashion. Marta Ferri is exactly the perfect representative of herself. She's the daughter of a famous photographer and a well-known interior designer; after her graduation she decided to go along with her wishes and her desire of freedom by moving to New York, where she worked for 4 years close to her father as set designer, personal assistant, digital tech and producer: "always Travelling, always on the run".
When she came back to Italy she had already gained experience as visual merchandiser for the brand Prada; her eclectic background became a rich soil where to develop her big passion for those colors and those (important) materials that will later turn in an important variable in her stylistic code.
The love for fabrics
Marta run across some wonderful textiles and decided, almost as a joke, to realize her first tailored dresses. They achieved a resounding success above her friends and clients and, in a flash, her first experiment turned into the pulsating heart of a creative multiform and versatile activity. Shortly afterwards, by skipping the middle passages, the younger fashion designer decided to put herself to the test and she submitted to an important jury (the WION one) a brave work, deeply creative and saturated with a strong talent in reinterpreting on a modern and innovative take the Haute Couture. So she won the critics award and soon, within her new Atelier, she created a new Pret à Porter line and a new project devoted to bags and named Unica: "When I produce something, generally I started from textiles. Thanks to my work as fashion designer, I have a lot of relationship with fabric providers. Recently I discovered that some of them had materials archive dating from the 50's. When I saw them, I couldn't hold out against the idea of having them revived in an accessory line. In particular I was thinking about bags! We can't survive without them!"
The simultaneous projects
Marta Ferri is the depositary of a pragmatic and contemporary talent. Recently, she created a capsule collection for the well-known brand Birkenstock, converting the typically comfortable sandal in an accessory characteristic of women with a romantic and poetic twist. But it isn't only this! She performed as Miss Dior for Vogue Italy, in the occasion of the Paris exhibit dedicated to the big couturier, and she was definitely crowned as one of the most interesting face of the contemporary fashion panorama.
Privileged but yet always busy, humble but not modest, Marta Ferri showed that being successful requires talent, an essential determination and a good dose of nonconformity. Sometimes to travel a lot is necessary to understand your own way, and coming back home isn't always a bad idea.
