The Italian Ministry of Education has announced the subjects for the second written exam of the 2025 Maturità. The Maturità exam, also known as the "esame di stato," is the final exam taken at the end of high school studies in Italy. It is a crucial step toward obtaining the high school diploma, which grants access to university or the workforce, and represents a significant milestone in students' lives, marking the transition from adolescence to adulthood.
The exam consists of three parts. The written Italian exam requires to write an essay on a topic chosen from various options: it could be a reflection on a literary text, a current affairs issue, or an analysis of a cultural work. Written exams in specialized subjects: Depending on the school track (scientific, literary, technical), students will take written exams in the specific subjects of their study program. The oral exam: Students will discuss various topics with an exam board, including the subjects studied during the year and a previously prepared project or theme.
