Italian spumante is reaping success abroad, as demonstrated by a study by Coldiretti (Italy's confederation of farmers) presented at Expo Milano 2015. In the first five months of 2015 Italian spumante sales abroad set an historic record, with an increase of 20% of bottles distributed.
In the rankings of the preferred Italian sparkling wines worldwide, Prosecco stands out, followed by Asti, and by Franciacorta while the main consumers are, in order, the United States, showing a 49% increase in demand, and the United Kingdom, with a jump of 55%, said Coldiretti.
