We, as residents of the United States, including those of us from the City of Syracuse and the County of Onondaga, do hereby petition Honorable Ben Walsh, Mayor of the City of Syracuse, to leave standing at Columbus Circle in the City of Syracuse, the statue of Christopher Columbus that was paid for by contributions from the Italian immigrants of the City of Syracuse and County of Onondaga and other members of the community, and placed at that location in 1934 to acknowledge the groundwork Columbus’s voyage contributed to the founding of our Country and for the statue’s representation of the Immigrant’s voyage to America by the ancestors of numerous Central New York residents.
