Spelling counts. For 52 years, the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge has been misspelled and there's no reason why that should continue in perpetuity. So argues Staten Island state Sen. Andrew Lanza and his colleague on the other side of the bridge, Sen. Marty Golden.
The two Republicans understand the immense cost of replacing all existing bridge signs with the correctly-spelled Verrazzano -- note the second Z -- and are asking the MTA that all future signs have the correct spelling.
