Limonaia (lemon grove) Pra' de la Fam, inside the Tignale harbor in the province of Brescia, faces Lake Garda. Today, the monumental complex – with a large greenhouse towering over the lake – is home to the Parco Alto Garda Bresciano Mountain Community's Eco-Museum.

But Limonaia Pra' de la Fam has a long history of impressing visitors with its golden charm: two hundred years ago, none other than Goethe described it as having beautiful, lush terraced gardens of lemon trees, with rows of square white pillars evenly spaced and arranged in tiers up along the hillside.
