“Little Italy” Across the Country

The early Italian immigrants of America usually reside in groups. They seem to be more comfortable living just near their relatives and friends from Italy. These groups became bigger and bigger as the Italian immigrants increased by the number. This group ultimately became a community and was dubbed as "Little Italy".

Wherever they reside—whether in the suburbs or in the big cities, these Italian-Americans bring with them their little piece of Italy in their communities. At present, there is a myriad of Little Italies around the country. But according to statistics, they are largest at the original sites that the early Italian-American immigrants have settled in during the 1900s.
