Silvano Orsi has a vision for the Lyell Avenue/Spencerport Road corridor in Gates. "What we are trying to do is revitalize the area, attract investment, fill up the plaza that has been vacant in Gates for close to 15, 20 years," said Orsi, CEO of Little Italy Neighborhood Association.

Orsi hopes to turn this area into an Italian destination. The association has already applied for around $1 million in state funding to get the project off the ground. "(They) will issue a decision on November as far as the initial $500,000 from Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council and $500,000 from Upstate Revitalization Initiative," Orsi explained.
