Italian fine jeweler Marco Bicego is preparing to open his first New York shop-in-shop in September at Bloomingdale's flagship. "Bloomingdale's 59th Street is a mega destination for luxury brands," Bicego said during a visit to Dallas. "The amount of tourists that go through there is intense." The approximately 120-square-foot boutique, which is not leased, will offer selections from the 10 collections Bicego has created since he introduced his 18-karat gold collection in 2000.
The son of a jeweler, Bicego crafts contemporary jewelry with fluid lines and hand wrought details at his workshop in northern Italy. His latest one-of-a-kind showpieces featuring raw, color-saturated gems are ticketed upwards of $90,000, but the typical retail sweet spot is $2,700.
