As the sun rises, 93-year-old Lou Tedone is busy making mozzarella. It's a daily ritual he learned long before he learned how to save lives. "I made mozzarellas every day at 6 o'clock before going to class at medical school," Dr. Tedone said. Lou was born to Italian immigrants in Brooklyn, New York. He was one of three brothers who helped run the family grocery store.
Upon the death of his father in 1941 and his brothers enlisting in World War Two, Lou Tedone started medical school through the Navy, all while making mozzarella for his mother's store. Just before earning his white coat, Lou was graced with love. "She said as we went through life, 'We were always pulling the wagon together, in the same direction,'" Lou said of his late wife Grace. "We had the same backgrounds."
