Commedia dell’arte maestro Antonio Fava will present a two-day workshop and a brand-new one-man show in Chicago in February. The visit will be hosted by Laughing Stock Theatre, a newly formed “Chicago-style” commedia dell’arte company fresh off a summer studying in Italy with Fava.
The legendary teacher, actor, director and mask-maker will perform “Nasi, Mustacchi, e Lazzi” at 7:30 on Feb. 12 at Crowd Theater, 3935 N. Broadway Ave., Chicago. The show will feature Fava as Totonno il Calabrese, a 17th-century actor in a commedia dell’arte troupe who showcases the masks, characters, and history of his particular style, then presents a comedy of his own.
