The two outstanding Italian-Americans lauded this year during Wednesday’s Paolo Busti Cultural Foundation’s banquet were Dr. Matthew Landfried and Jacqueline Corbelli. Landfried is a well-known orthopedist, both locally and nationally. His great-grandparents, Dominic and Vincenza Rizzitti Grego immigrated to Pennsylvania from Calabria, Italy in 1903. Landfried was raised in Greenville, graduated from Temple University in 1985 and moved to Batavia in 1990.
Landfried is currently the medical director of surgical services, and chairman of the Department of Surgery at United Memorial Medical Center as well as serving on multiple committees at UMMC and its partner, Rochester Regional Health. He is an adjunct professor at LECOM Medical School and D’Youville College and mentors PA students, medical students and residents.
