Between the 1880s and the 1920s, over four million Italians left the shores of their native country to migrate to the U.S. in search of better opportunities.

Most of them came from poor rural villages in southern Italy and formed their own communities in East Coast cities like New York, Philadelphia, Chicago and Boston, bringing their cultural traditions to their new home.
